The late René Dumont is the author of a famous pamphlet entitled "Black Africa has got a disastrous launching.". Not particularly clever, even disastrous indeed, that title, given that Dumont could not ignore the existence of a so white and so racist Africa lying in the south of the continent, and he could no longer ignore the existence of some dictatorships inherited from colonialism in the Arabic north!
But anyway, may be that Dumont suffered from selective amnesia. For my part I would have suggest him a better title: "The Africa civilized by the Whites has got a quite disastrous launching". But let's have a look at the Ivory Coast, with its magnificent replica of Rom's St. Peter, based in Yamoussoukro.

Eine Leiche auf dem Boden liegend; und natürlich bekam der Kerl vor seinem Tod jede Menge Hilfe, bis er ums Leben kam! Und da laufen Gaffer im Rausch heran, denen nichts besseres einfällt als Bilder mit den Handys zu machen. Was für eine spektakuläre Zusammenfassung der (modernen) Zivilisation!
Der verstorbene französische Denker René Dumont war der Autor eines berühmten Pamphlets mit dem Titel "Schwarz Africa hatte einen katastrophalen Start.". Nicht besonders klug, sogar eben katastrophal, der Titel, da Dumont die Existenz ein so weißes und so rassistisches Land im Süden des Kontinents nicht ignorieren konnte, und so konnte er auch nicht die Existenz einiger vom Kolonialismus im Norden des Kontinents geerbte Diktaturen ignorieren!
Aber mag sein, daß Dumont an selektive Amnesie gelitten hatte. So hätte ich ihm wohl einen besseren Titel vorgeschlagen: "Das von den Weißen zivilisierte Afrika hat einen ganz katastrophalen Start gemacht.". Schauen wir uns mal die Elfenbeinküste an, mit ihrem prächtigen Nachbau von Rom's St. Peter in Yamoussoukro.

El difunto escritor francès René Dumont fue el autor de un folleto famoso titulado "África Negra a tenido un lanzamiento desastroso.". Debo reconocerle que no encuentro este título especialmente inteligente. ¡Lo encontraría incluso desastroso, dado que Dumont no podía ignorar la existencia de ese régimen tan blanco y tan racista del continente, y no podía tampoco ignorar tantes dictaduras dictaduras heredadas del colonialismo en el norte, por ejemplo!
Pero de todos modos, puede ser aquel Dumont sufrido de la amnesia selectiva. De mi parte yo tendría lo sugieren un mejor título: "África civilizada por los blancos a tenido un lanzamiento desastroso". Vamos a echar una mirada a Costa de Marfil, con su réplica magnífica de San Peter de Roma, basada en Yamousoukro.

Die Weißen versorgten die Afrikaner mit Waffen, damit sie sich vernichten können; aber sie brachten auch Mobiltelefone, um die Leichen fotografieren zu können. Dabei hätte ich das Wichtigtes beinahe vergessen: die Weissen brachten auch die Bibel zu den Afrikanern, damit die Leute rasch zum Pfarrer gehen um zu beichten!
Los blancos abastecieron los africanos de armas para ayudarles a matarse, y también de teléfonos móviles para filmar los cadáveres. A propósito, casi olvidé el más importante: ¡ellos también trajeron la Biblia a los Africanos, de modo que ellos pudieran ir al sacerdote para confesar!

No parece que sea de buena educación fotografiar la cara de un hombre abatido a balazos, a menos que el muerto, cuando aún estaba vivo, hubiera dado permiso para ser retratado al poco de expirar…
Es scheint, von hohem Übel zu sein, das Gesicht eines niedergeschossen Mannes zu fotografieren, es sei denn der Tote, als er noch lebte, die Erlaubnis erteilte, kurz nach seinem Tod sich fotografieren zu lassen...
It should be the demonstration of the worst taste to photograph the face of a man who has just been gunned down, unless the dead, as he was still alive, had given permission to be photographed just after beeing shot down...
Anyway, I would like to reassure the Afro-pessimists of all kinds and other fans of René Dumont: we still have got an authentic Africa which rarely makes headlines, which ignores terms like "coup" or "corruption", which no longer knows what a prison is, having always enjoyed the outdoor life, far from cities and from the so-called civilization. "Backward and primitive people" was the typology used by the early anthropologists. That part of Africa remains as impenetrable to the Bible as to the Koran and to that the consumer society. Isn't it incredible? (**)
Hiermit möchte ich die Afro-Pessimisten aller Art und die Fans von René Dumont beruhigen: wir haben noch ein authentisches Afrika, das nur selten Schlagzeilen macht, das von Worten wie "Coup" oder "Korruption" keine Ahnung hat, das nicht einmal weiß, was ein Gefängnis ist, da die Leute ihr ganzes Leben im Freien genießen, weit weg von den Städten und von der sogenannten Zivilisierten Welt. "Aufgehalten und primitiv", so lautete die Typologie der frühen Anthropologen. Dieser Teil von Afrika blieb undurchdringlich gegenüber die Bibel sowohl den Koran und die Konsumgesellschaft. Kaum zu glauben! (**)
Pero me gustaría tranquilizar a los afro-pesimistas de todo tipo y a otros fanáticos de René Dumont: tenemos todavía una auténtica África, que rara vez es noticia, que hace caso omiso de términos como "golpe" o "corrupción", que ya no sabe lo que una prisión es, pues siempre he disfrutado de la vida al aire libre, lejos de las ciudades y de la llamada civilización. "Pueblos atrasados y primitivos" fue la tipología utilizada por los primeros antropólogos. Esa parte de África sigue siendo impenetrable a la Biblia como al Corán y a la sociedad de consumo. ¿No es increíble? (**)
(**) However, I'm not quite stupid and I am also aware of the fact that every day tourists visit the Masai Mara to their thousands, helping to pollute this beautiful native culture with money, the Masai women rushing to the doors of the vans and busses to sell some junk. Poor Europeans, condemned to rot everything they touch! But Africa is a huge continent!
(**) Immerhin bin ich nicht so dumm und ich bin mir völlig bewußt, daß die sogenannte Zivilisation schon da ist, wenn man die Tausenden von Touristen betrachtet, die das Land der Masai jeden Tag durchqueren, um die Kultur der Eingeborenen mit Geld zu verschmutzen; da hetzen Masai Frauen um die Türen der Kombiwagen um Junk zu verkaufen. Wie armselig diese Europäische Zivilisation, die offenbar dazu verdammt ist alles, was sie berührt, zu verderben! Aber zum Glück bleibt Afrika ein riesiger Kontinent!

Sin embargo, África sigue siendo un continente enorme.
