Expressing grave concern at the deteriorating situation, the escalation of violence, and the heavy civilian casualties…

Reiterating the responsibility of the Libyan authorities to protect the Libyan population and reaffirming that parties to armed conflicts bear the primary responsibility to take all feasible steps to ensure the protection of civilians…

Expressing its determination to ensure the protection of civilians and civilian populated areas and the rapid and unimpeded passage of humanitarian assistance and the safety of humanitarian personnel…

Acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations,

1. Demands the immediate establishment of a cease-fire and a complete end to violence and all attacks against, and abuses of, civilians;

2. Stresses the need to intensify efforts to find a solution to the crisis which responds to the legitimate demands of the Libyan people and notes the decisions of the Secretary-General to send his Special Envoy to Libya and of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union to send its ad hoc High Level Committee to Libya with the aim of facilitating dialogue to lead to the political reforms necessary to find a peaceful and sustainable solution;

3. Demands that the Libyan authorities comply with their obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law, human rights and refugee law and take all measures to protect civilians and meet their basic needs, and to ensure the rapid and unimpeded passage of humanitarian assistance...

Après Lidice, Babi Yar, Oradour-sur-Glane, Dresde, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Sétif, My Lai..., voici Syrte, en Libye, la preuve sur la pierre de la pathologie meurtrière de certains individus qu'on n'ose même pas appeler des "Hommes" !

Et comme ils sont très contents d'eux, ils doivent probablement dormir sur leurs deux oreilles, sans cauchemars ni poussées d'angoisse, et sans consommation de psychotropes non plus.

Those below are probably convinced that they won a war against a country of 5.5million. And since they are very pleased with themselves, they should probably sleep like logs, without nightmares nor anxiety attacks, and no use of psychotropic drugs either.

Despite these calls for peace, the situation in Libya today is more alarming than ever. As I speak, Colonel Al-Qadhafi’s troops pursue their violent conquest of liberated cities and territories. We must not give free rein to warmongers; we must not abandon civilian populations, the victims of brutal repression, to their fate; we must not allow the rule of law and international morality to be trampled underfoot. Resolution 1973 (2011) demands that Colonel Al Qadhafi implement an immediate ceasefire. It imposes a no-fly zone to prevent the Al-Qadhafi regime from using air power against the Libyan people. It authorizes Member States to take all necessary measures to protect civilians and civilian-populated areas under threat of attack. It rules out a foreign occupation force of any form on any part of Libyan territory. It imposes a range of additional measures, including significant action to tighten enforcement of the arms embargo and to deny the regime access to funds. We, along with partners in the Arab world and in NATO, are now ready to shoulder our responsibilities in implementing resolution 1973 (2011). (Mark Lyall Grant, United Kingdom):

On 12 March, the League of Arab States called on the Security Council to establish a no-fly zone and to take other measures to protect civilians. Today’s resolution is a powerful response to that call and to the urgent needs on the ground. The resolution demands an immediate ceasefire and a complete end to violence and attacks against civilians. Responding to the Libyan people and to the League of Arab States, the Security Council has authorized the use of force, including the enforcement of a no-fly zone, to protect civilians and civilian areas targeted by Colonel Al-Qadhafi, his intelligence and security forces, and his mercenaries (Susan Rice, USA).

Certains d'entre vous ont choisi de faire ce qu'ont fait les harkis en Algérie : s'associer avec l'occupant blanc pour tuer leurs propres frères et soeurs. Et maintenant, voyez le résultat ! Quelle honte ! Quelle honte ! Quelle honte pour toute l'Afrique ! Et c'est parce que ce crime nous concerne tous, Africains, que nous interdisons aux harkis de Benghazi de poser leurs sales pieds en terre africaine, où ils seront reçus en criminels. Some of you chose to act like the Algerian harkis during the liberation war against France and got in association with the white invaders in order to kill their own brothers and sisters and destroy their own country! And because this crime affects us all, Africans, we are going to prevent the traitors of Benghazi from putting their dirty feet on African soil, where they would just be received as criminals. Et dire que l'équipée des forces de la croisade judéo-chrétienne ne devait durer que quelques jours, dès lors que les populations opprimées par l'infâme Kadhafi se seraient jetées au cou de leurs libérateurs blancs ! Et puis, patatras ! Nos experts avaient juste minimisé quelques détails, que nous n'avons pas cessé d'évoquer, à savoir que Kadhafi n'était pas Saddam Hussein et qu'il n'était pas un mauvais joueur d'échecs, sachant parfaitement qu'une partie ne s'apprécie qu'au tout dernier coup !

Diên Biên Phú, c'est quelque part la fin de l'arrogance coloniale, quand un petit pays, le Vietnam, sous-équipé, vient à bout du terrorisme d'Etat français. Curieusement, les Américains ne retirent rien de l'humiliation française de Dien Bien Phu, puisqu'ils vont se jeter, la tête la première, dans le piège vietnamien, ce qui va conduire à cette autre débâcle de 1975...

Juste un petit rappel : la Libye, c'est grand comme trois fois l'Afghanistan et comme cinq fois le Vietnam. Et au Vietnam aussi, il y avait des harkis : des Vietnamiens qui avaient choisi de combattre aux côtés des envahisseurs venus détruire leur pays sous les bombes !

Isn’t it odd to think that that Judeo-Christian bloody crusade in Libya was supposed to last only a few days, the Libyans supposed to be oppressed by the infamous Gaddafi jumping  at the liberators’ necks? And then, boom! Our experts had just played down a few details that we had many times talked about on this blog : the fact that Gaddafi was not another Saddam Hussein and that he was even a quite good chess player, knowing that a game is not over before the quite last move!

Dien Bien Phu means somewhere the end of colonial arrogance, a small and under-equipped country, Vietnam,  overcoming the French state terrorism. But how curious !, the Americans did not learn anything from the French humiliation at Dien Bien Phu, jumping rapidly into the Vietnam trap for 30 long years, which would lead to another collapse culminating in that dramatic day of april 1975...

Let’s just remind us of something: Libya is three times as big as Afghanistan and five times as big as Vietnam. And in Vietnam, too, there were a lot of harkis: people who chose to fight alongside the invaders coming to destroy their country with bombs!

Ist es nicht seltsam zu denken, daß der jüdisch-christliche blutige Kreuzzug in Libyen eigentlich nur wenige Tage dauern sollte, da die vom berüchtigten Gaddafi unterdrückten Libyer ihre westlichen Befreier herzlich empfangen würden? Aber offenbar lief alles schief! Tatsache ist, daß Gaddafi kein anderer Saddam Hussein ist, und daß er sogar kein schlechter Schachspieler ist; dabei wußte er wohl, daß ein Spiel nicht zu Ende sei bis zum allerletzten Zug ! Da sollen unsere Militärexperte der UN-OTAN ein paar Details gerade vernachläßigt haben, über die wir hier schon etliche Male geschrieben haben.

Dien Bien Phu muß man schätzen als einen Meilenstein für das Ende der Arroganz  einer Kolonialherrschaft, da es einem kleinen und schlecht ausgestatteten Land gelang, den französischen Staatsterrorismus zu zerstören. Merkwürdig aber ist, daß die Amerikaner aus dem französischen Debakel nichts lernten, und sich Hals über Kopf in die Vietnam-Falle für 30 lange Jahre hineinstürzen würden, was zu jenem anderen Zusammenbruch führen sollte, der mit jenem dramatischen Tag von April 1975 gipfelte...

Hier sollten wir uns an etwas erinnern: Libyen ist dreimal so groß wie Afghanistan und fünfmal so groß wie Vietnam. Und auch in Vietnam gab es eine Menge von Harkis: Menschen, die es vorzogen, an der Seite der Invasoren zu kämpfen, um ihr eigenes Land mit Bomben zerstören zu lassen!

¿No es extraño pensar que la sangrienta cruzada judeo-cristiana en Libia en realidad sólo debería durar unos pocos días porque los libios oprimidos por el infame Gaddafi sólo podrían dar a los libertadores occidentales una cálida bienvenida? ¡Pero al parecer todo salió mal! El hecho es que Gaddafi no es otro Saddam Hussein y que él no es un mal jugador de ajedrez, aun sabiendo que una partida de ajedrez no se acaba hasta el último golpe. Obviamente, nuestros expertos descuidaron algunos detalles que ya hemos discutido muchas veces aquí.

Diên Biên Phú tiene que ser estimado como un hito para el final de la arrogancia colonial, pues un pequeño y mal equipado país fue capaz de humillar el terrorismo del Estado francés. Extrañamente, los estadounidenses no aprendarán nada del desastre francés y irán se empaler en la trampa vietnamita durante treinta largos años, culminando con el fracaso de eso día tan fatídico de abril de 1975.

Aquí debemos recordar algo: Libia es tres veces más grande que Afganistán y cinco veces más grande que Vietnam. Y en Vietnam, había un montón de harkis: personas que preferían combatir al lado de los invasores que destruyeron su propio país con bombas.

The last morning

Everything is smashed up, crumbling away.  It is silent again and the end is in sight at last.   Time seems to wobble to a stop.  The sky turns upside down and becomes bluer than ever.  The sun smiles on the victors and scoffs at the vanquished.

It is 3:00 in the afternoon.  Above the plain, a gleaming Dakota, imperturbably drops its useless, scanty supplies.  It has been four long hours since Dien Bien Phu has been in need of anything. Anything, that is, from the outside. The fortified camp can only count on itself and draw on its own courage for the strength to accept its fate.

Not a single position remains in French hands since 11:00 this morning.  Their garrisons were overrun; they did not surrender. Eliane 10 fell at dawn.  There remained only two officers, entrenched on the roof of a shelter.  Lieutenant Bailly, of the 8th shock batallion, who was sent as a reinforcement and arrived alone, and lieutenant Boudec.  They were both grievously wounded and the Viets allowed them to be brought to the surgical unit.  Boudec would be the last patient operated on by Major Grauwin.

Tout s'effrite. Tout se disloque. Le temps s'étire dans le silence revenu. Il bancale, il s'arrête. Le ciel se retourne et devient bleu comme jamais. Le soleil sourit aux vainqueurs. Il nargue les vaincus.

Il est 3 heures de l'après-midi. Au-dessus de la plaine, imperturbable, un Dakota scintillant de lumière largue des colis inutiles et dérisoires. Il y a quatre longues heures que Diên Biên Phu n'a plus besoin de rien. Rien en tout cas qui puisse venir d'ailleurs. Le camp retranché ne peut plus compter que sur lui-même et puiser dans son propre courage la force d'assumer son destin.

Depuis 11 heures ce matin, plus aucune des positions françaises à l'est de la Nam Youm n'est tenue. Leurs garnisons ont été submergées ; elles ne se sont pas rendues.

Eliane 10 est tombé à l'aube. Il n'y avait plus que deux officiers, retranchés sur le toit d'un abri. Les lieutenants Bailly, du 8ème Choc, envoyé en renfort, arrivé seul, et Le Boudec. Ils étaient grièvement blessés et les Viets les ont laissé brancarder jusqu'à l'antenne chirurgicale. Le Boudec sera le dernier opéré du commandant Grauwin.

So the imperialist enemy, US-formed commanders who rely on lethal technology but ignore everything of the war on the ground, and use auxiliary mercenaries to control a sand-shifting endless territory risk to be defeated by the superior military strategy of the lessons received in Moscow!
